Trump says SCOTUS pick could come in his words ‘next week’ and will ‘most likely’ be a woman

The President fired up his rally in Fayetteville, N.C., by paying homage to Associate Justice Ginsburg, saying “you may disagree with her, but she was a tremendous inspiration to a number of people, I say all Americans.”

The President believes we need to Appoint a new Justice before the election. In fact, it’s part of his job to nominate one. He believes his nomination could come as early as next week.

President Trump stated that a Supreme Court seat was vacated during an election year or prior to inauguration 29 times throughout history. President Trump also contended that he had the right to nominate a new Supreme Court justice before the election.  He stated, “Article II of the Constitution says the president shall nominate justices of the Supreme Court. I don’t think it can be any more clear, can it?”

President Trump tweeted Saturday morning, “@GOP We were put in this position of power and importance to make decisions for the people who so proudly elected us, the most important of which has long been considered to be the selection of United States Supreme Court Justices.”

The President stated that he has a short list of nominees and his pick will ‘most likely be a woman.’
